I want you to never forget that the sun does rise again.
I know tons people who are really going through it right now. And with all the surrounding cheer of the holiday season, what is the twinkling of Christmas lights to everyone else is nothing but the glimmering reminder of the salt in their wounds, confirming them of their struggles and current state of unhappiness.
But how can anyone be upset during the most wonderful time of the year?! 😱
Trust me, it’s possible. And for those struggling right now, this is actually is the worst time of the year. Honestly, 2019 was a real piece of shit to a lot of people. And if you had a great year then consider yourself lucky.
For the many of us that are struggling, whether people know of your battles or not, believe that it will get better. Some are at rock bottom and can’t see any hope in sight that anything will ever improve. I am all too familiar with that feeling. Every time you start to pick yourself back up, something knocks you back down. Sometimes twice as hard. When you start to feel a slow creeping of positivity, you’re hit by another blow straight out of left field and everything starts to fall apart again. You’re trying so hard to pick the pieces up but you can’t even find all the pieces anymore. Your head is hardly above water; nothing but your eyes and nostrils at the surface barely grasping what’s left of your air. And finally you feel like just giving up because you realize you’re so unbelievably broken that there is nothing even left of you to break, and you no longer have the strength to save yourself. You’re more in the dark than you have ever been in your life and there is no sign of light anywhere on your horizon.
But that is when you have got to keep going, because that is when day breaks and the soft glow of a beautiful sunrise finally starts to appear.
Just when you think you have been through everything you can possibly take. When life has thrown every wrench and every obstacle your way and your spirit has been obliterated to a powder. Do not give up. This is when things start to turn around and when everything you have been through will finally start to make sense.
It is nearly impossible to see the purpose for going through a minefield of royal fuckeries while you’re going through them. It’s not until the top of your climb starts to finally make its way to into your view that things start to unfold for the better, and you’re able to finally look back down at your path, seeing every obstacle, and understand why you had to overcome that before you were able to reach the top.
It will never make sense why we go through awful shit unless we can allow ourselves to keep pushing forward to finally see what destination the awful shit was leading us to. And it’s a beautiful thing to be able to stand on the top of that mountain, with the sunrise lighting the world around you again, and look back down at your climb. Feeling so empowered and so much bigger than the boulders and trenches that tried with everything they had to stop you, and being so proud that you fought your way through them.
It may be dark now, but keep going. The sun does rise again and you will come out stronger and smarter and braver and nothing will be able to hold you back.
This is your journey, and you are on this path for a reason. Trust it with everything you have and never give up.
Cheers,
